Known for its community-based patient healthcare, Lafayette Regional Health Center—part of HCA Midwest Health System—has opened a new outpatient wound care clinic. Conveniently located at Lafayette Regional Health Center’s Outpatient Clinic, the Wound Care Clinic provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly healed during the course of conventional treatment.
These wounds can cause severe health risks and may result in life-threatening infections, possible amputation and debilitating health problems. With the advanced treatment available at the Wound Care Clinic, individuals with slow-healing wounds have access to physicians and medical professional with extensive training in wound care. The comprehensive services available can heal wounds that have resisted other treatments, and help avoid loss of limbs, reduce incidence of recurrence, and improve quality of life.
“The goal of Lafayette Regional Health Center’s Wound Care Clinic is to significantly increase the wound healing rate of patients and help them avoid unnecessary amputation,” says Tanja Findley, Family Nurse Practitioner. “Our wound care team has had tremendous success with an average healing rate of 85 percent while decreasing the time to heal.”
Bret Kolman, chief executive officer of Lafayette Regional Health Center, says the Wound Care Clinic is another option in excellent healthcare available in a community setting. “Lafayette Regional Health Center is excited to offer another specialty,” says Kolman. “This service enables patients to stay close to home and receive compassionate, superior care.”
