Pain treatments we offer

We understand that patients may need a variety of treatment options to help them heal. That’s why our team is devoted to using the following proven pain management methods and rehabilitation techniques to help patients improve function and reduce pain.

Pump device implantation

With this treatment option, a pump is surgically implanted under the skin to deliver prescription medicine and fluids into the body. This helps patients with chronic conditions, such as cancer and chronic pancreatitis. It also helps reduce spasms caused by brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke and neurological disorders. This procedure requires local anesthesia.

Nerve block injection

Nerve blocks involve the injection of a nerve-blocking substance into a cluster of nerves causing pain in an organ or body region. Nerve blocks can be used for a range of purposes. They can provide temporary pain relief, allow a damaged nerve time to heal and help identify a more specific cause of pain. This procedure requires local anesthesia.

Oral medication prescription

Our pain specialists are experts in the latest oral medications and the dosages needed for each individual patient to relieve their pain and improve their quality of life.

Physical therapy and rehabilitation

We offer physical therapy and rehabilitation at all of our hospitals to improve our patients’ mobility and functionality through non-surgical techniques. In addition to physical therapy, we offer outpatient occupational, aquatic and speech therapies as well as inpatient and outpatient rehab programs.

Radiofrequency treatment

Cooled radiofrequency treatment uses water-cooled radiofrequency energy to safely deactivate pain-causing nerves, thus providing non-surgical relief for patients. This non-invasive treatment can be used for patients with various joint conditions.

Spinal cord stimulator implantation

To ease pain in patients with spine injuries and conditions, we can implant a spinal cord stimulator. This is a pump that uses electrical impulses to block pain from being perceived by the brain. Once the device is implanted, the stimulator is activated. The patient can then coordinate with their physician to adjust the settings for maximum relief.

Steroid injection

Steroids can be injected to temporarily relieve pain in specific areas of the body. For example, an epidural steroid injection can relieve pain in the neck and lower back resulting from orthopedic and spine conditions, such as herniated discs and spinal stenosis. This procedure requires local anesthesia.
